Orange Sweet Rolls

These orange sweet rolls are so yummy and wonderful. They are made with potato flakes which makes them light and fluffy. My little girl said, “these are the best rolls,” as she devoured two rolls without the icing on it yet!

3/4 cup Sugar
3/4 cup Butter or Butter Flavored Shortening
3 cups Warm Milk
1 Cup Potato Flakes
1 tbsp Salt
4 Eggs
1 tbsp Yeast
1-2 tbsp Orange Juice
7 cups Flour

2 Cups Powdered Sugar
2 tsp Orange Zest
4 tbsp Orange Juice
2 tbsp Butter, softened

Mix the sugar, butter or shortening with the warm milk, potato flakes and salt until lukewarm. Add the yeast, let sit for one minute. Then whisk in the eggs and orange juice.

Add 6 cups of flour and stir until the dough has come together, but it is still soft, you may need to add an extra 1/2 cup of flour or so until the dough is no longer sticky.

Let the dough rise for one hour. Push down and divide dough into 3 parts. Flour the countertop and top of dough. Then roll out the dough to 1/2″ thick and butter the top of the dough. Cut the dough into 1″ thick strips and roll.

You can also take the dough, fold in half and cut into 1″ thick strips, then you can tie into knots. I like to roll them up like a cinnamon roll.

Place the rolls on a cookie sheet. Let rise for 1-2 hours more. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown (14-20 minutes).

Glaze Directions:
Mix together, all of the ingredients until a thicker glaze forms. Once rolls have cooled slightly glaze them.
